IDOL - Top Ten
Well, to start out...tonight, overall, was terrible. Embarrassing for an American Idol top ten. Katharine and...Taylor were the best by a mile of the night. (Taylor is the surprising part) Another surprising part is I actually agreed with Paula a lot tonight. And I love Simon Cowell...more on that in a bit.
Lisa: Oh dear. Darling, you may have just sign, sealed, and delivered your ticket home. This is actually my favorite song by Kelly Clarkson, which isn't saying much because she's not my favorite, but I actually do LOVE this song. The really sad part is, Lisa can sing. She just didn't tonight for some reason. It was extremely ballsy to pick a hit from a former idol and it did not pay off. I would say she might get away with it, but with her last two weeks in the bottom three, I doubt it. Plus, she hit some of the high notes in the beginning, but there were parts of this song that were just painful. Bottom three material.
Kellie: Oh dear again. I have to totally agree with Simon here. I just hate that she had so many songs to choose from and she chose one that didn't show her vocals at all. She hit the last note and it probably put her safe for the week, but it was just disappointing. And it was way too low for her. She might be safe, but I wouldn't guarantee it.
Ace: Well, Ace, you're cute. You've got that going for you. Although it didn't keep you out of the bottom three two weeks ago. As soon as I heard what he was singing I panicked. This is just so far out of his comfort zone and I have to wonder why he would choose it. The vocals were okay...and out of the first three he was definitely the best but it wasn't great. Stick with what you're good at man. Go boyz II men. I would say he's not safe, but Paula's comment about getting together later might just keep him in.
Taylor: Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh. Tonight I became a Taylor fan. As soon as I heard he was doing 'Trouble', I freaked. This is a great song, and so Taylor! I knew he was going to do a good job and he didn't let me down. And was anyone else so excited that he just stood there and sang?? It was so nice to see him NOT jump around like a goofball and it actually accentuated his vocals, I thought. Randy's critique was crap, Paula's was good...and Simon pissed me off because you could tell he liked the performance but he just had to throw in the negative clothes comment. DEFINITELY safe.
Mandisa: On a positive note, I like that Mandisa was willing to put it all out there and spread the faith on such a widely seen show. I bet she didn't think she was opening the door for Paula and Ryan to blaspheme and throw out sacreligous remarks about what she did, though. Nice guys... Again, though... I agreed with Randy and Simon on this one...didn't like it. It was weird. I'm guessing she's safe though.
Chris: Hated it...again. Shocking right? Real quick though...really funny how Ryan brought up the fact that "Chris's" cover of Johnny Cash's "Walk the Line" was actually Live's cover of "Walk the Line" and he just failed to mention that last week and passed it off as his own. Real cool Chris. I hate you. And how he oh-so-subtly threw in there, hey man, love songs? DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT! There isn't really much to say about Chris anymore, he does the same crap every week. BUT...if I saw Simon Cowell right now, I'd kiss him for what he said. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT! I replayed it like 8 times. I bet that was a slap in the face. Get out of your comfort zone ass hat. He's safe, but I bet Simon's comment will make some people think...bottom three?? A girl can dream, right?
Katharine: I LOVE THIS GIRL! My sister called me before I'd watched the show and in this real negative voice said "Did you watch Katharine?". So I was worried. But not for long...she was awesome, once again. First, I would never recommend picking a Christina Aguilera song, because she's got, in my opinion, the greatest voice EVER. But, Simon saying she was almost as good as Christina is pretty much the greatest compliment ever. She started out a little shaky, but she came through and was fabulous as always. I'm not going to call her safe or not, because a) she has never gotten the props she deserves from anyone, fans or judges, and b) I don't want to jinx her.
Bucky: Oh Bucky. You know, it really was just cruel for the judges to even pick you for the top 24, because they obviously don't think you should be here. It really doesn't matter what he does, its never good enough. I'll say this, compared to the last two weeks, it was stellar. Compared to everyone else though, he's just not good. Good song choice for him, but not good enough. Bottom three material.
Paris: Randy's assessment of this was embarrassing. Paris, you're not 30, you're not 25, and the fact that you said you wanted to act like a kid before you sang it just made it worse. Newsflash...you're not Beyonce. Good job, Simon. The vocals were good, the girl can sing, but it didn't do anything for me. She's probably safe.
Elliot: I actually did not like this. The dancing made me want to cry. Yes, Elliot, you can sing. But you're not Eminem, and you're not from 8 Mile...and neither is this song. I hate this song to begin with, but the arrangement was awful and it went downhill from there. The actual vocals were all that was good about it. Safe, not safe? No idea.
I voted for: Katharine (112 times)
My bottom 3: Lisa, Bucky, Ace
Going home: Lisa
