IDOL - Down to Eleven - 3.21.06

My first official blog...you gotta start somewhere right?
Okay, on a sidebar, I wrote this last night, and I'm just now posting it now, but I still left my predictions at the bottom. Since this is my first time talking about the "idols" it'll be a bit longer and I'll talk about the judges, next week will be shorter unless they just really piss me off...or impress me if your name is Katharine McPhee!

Randy: No feelings either way really, just doesn't say much, or rather, he always says the same thing. Just don't dare sing anything by any of "the greatest singers in the known world" because you'll never compare. He just drives me nuts when he and Paula gang up on Simon.

Paula: This is hard because I initially started watching AI because of her...I was such a big fan in the 80's (judge and snicker all you want, I know, I have it coming) but she is just a pain. It annoys the crap out of me that everyone is good and she always has to be positive. That's not constructive! And no, its not just about having fun. Did anyone see Simon on Jay Leno last week? Lisa Lampinelli or however you spell her name was on after him and she had some choice words for Paula that I shouldn't repeat, but Ace was involved.

Simon: When he comments on weight and appearance that is unacceptable, because like he said himself, its a singing competition. But he's publicly apologized for that, so moving on. I really think its scary that we've gotten to a point in our society that honesty is treated so harshly and Simon is the perfect example. He can't even get two words out without boos coming from the crowd and its ridiculous. He speaks the truth people! And I actually think he's gotten nicer this season.

Ryan: Come out of the closet all ready and stop goading Simon like an 8 year old on the playground. I hate you. (More every week people, my hatred for Ryan doesn't stop) By the way, if you've never seen Kathy Griffin do stand up about Ryan, you haven't lived.

On to the people that matter...
Mandisa: She was pretty much flawless tonight, but there's something about her voice when gets loud that just bugs me. She's cute and sweet and fun, I just don't like her as much as I should considering her voice is as good as it is. The stripper comment made it allllll worth it.

Bucky: Appalling. When he was singing, the entire time I was thinking how on earth did this guy get into the top twelve? Who are we kidding though...he lost me when he butchered a Pat Green song. Hello...I'm from Texas.

Paris: She looked fabulous, but I was surprised the judges didn't comment on her look, given there propensity for wanting the teens to "stay in there range". She blew "Fever" out of the park and gave it her own touch. She's still a bit cocky...let's tone it down Paris. The singing answers last week made me cover my eyes.

Chris: Okay...I know everyone loves him and he's going to win, blah blah blah, but I can't stand him. The guy can sing, I'll give him that...but its a cop out that he never does anything different. He sings the same song every week with different words. The judges love him because he "stays true to what he is" whatever. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. Get out of your comfort zone! Thank God the Chili Peppers covered a Stevie song, cause otherwise he would have been up a creek. Dude, you butchered a Johnny Cash song, I'm over it.

Katharine: My absolute, all time favorite. Mad girl crush. I've loved her since day one and I've never been behind an Idol so much to get to the end. Seriously, I could go on forever... She's proven she can do different things, and she did ELLA proud! Her voice never falters, even when she chose a bad Stevie song, and she is the most talented, with the most "star quality" and diversity. "Since I Fell For You" was my fav though.

Taylor: He's only okay. I love his passion though, its precious. He's got this huge weird fan base though, so, I'll bet he'll be around for a while.

Lisa: Her voice is great, really awesome, and I love this song, but she did not keep up with that tempo. It was tragic.

Elliot: Only okay. Didn't do much for me. I'm liking the goatee though. My boyfriend likes him...does that mean anything?

Kevin: I can't stand him only a tad less than Chris. How is someone with a lisp still on this show? It's an embarrassment for the judges that they let him get this far. He has good pitch but thats it and I hope its him to go this week, even over Bucky, although I know it probably won't happen.

Kellie: I think her voice is getting better and her innocent dumb girl act is getting worse. I think at first it was genuine and she saw how people responded to it and now she's trying to hard. But I like her. Simon's pick that's she's one of the three best is shameful though.

Ace: I was not fond of the rendition of "In the Still of the Night", one of my all time favorite songs, or the last falsetto note. BUT I blame Paula. She's been too kind to his falsetto. See Paula, look what happens when you lie!! Otherwise he was very good and it was Simon's best critique of the night. Every word was dead on. Oh yeah, and he's dreamy. It doesn't make me vote for him, but still dreamy.

I voted for: Katharine (85 times)
My bottom 3: Bucky, Lisa, Elliot
Going home: Bucky
