IDOL - Country Tonight

Well, since Idol starts in an hour, I thought I'd throw out some song preferences for the final nine since song choice seems to be the kicker this season according to both the judges and the viewers (in the latest poll).

Bucky: I really don't have anything against Bucky. From what I can tell, he's really been humbled by the experience and he seems like a geniunely nice guy, but he's just not the next AI. Country will definitely be his strong suit, and unlike Kellie, he took advantage of the opportunity to shine last week. The only thing that I didn't like was the diction. He should move away from Tim McGraw, even though it worked for him, just to stay diverse, but maybe stay old school with some Tracy Lawrence or Tracy Byrd? You can be twangy Bucky, and this week its allowed...use it.

Kellie: She needs to step it up because last week she didn't. I think she did well with Patsy Cline, although that opinion was not widely shared, and her voice is a little twangy also. I think something LeAnn Rimes or Reba MacEntire would fit her voice best. Its undershooting, but hey...Mindy McCready maybe?

Katharine: I think this girl can sing anything, but country is definitely not her genre, so I think she needs to go with either Faith Hill or Martina McBride, who I think have two of the strongest voices in country and their stigma isn't so countryish.

Chris: Who cares, he'll turn it rocker.

Mandisa: Oh man, no idea. There's no room for diva in country.

Ace: This will be a problem too I think.

Paris: I think Paris is very diverse and she can probably do anything, but again, this is very out of her comfort zone so I wouldn't be surprised if she crashed. I would expect her to do something older though.

Taylor: I have never not liked Taylor, just always thought he was an odd duck, but it only took one week for me to become a true fan. I think he can do anything. I would like to see him do maybe Clint Black (maybe a little harmonica??) or George Strait or even Alan Jackson. Really anything.

Elliot: This will be out of his comfort zone, but if anyone can do it, I think Elliot can. The kid can sing. Probably something slower and bluesier. Wow, I totally just made up that word. I think he would actually do Tim McGraw well.

I'm pretty eclectic when it comes to music, but I'm actually a big country fan...George Strait is my all time favorite, so I'm hoping someone does that. Love Tim McGraw. And Martina is my favorite all time female voice second only to Christina, so I want that one to show up too. Let's just hope its better than last week.
